Oh well, two out of three isn't so bad.
I realized the other day that I have exactly 299 blog posts up on my blog. To mark this occasion I decided to write a more personal post. I normally save my writing blog for personal updates, but since no one ever reads that one, I decided a few personal posts here couldn't hurt.
I've almost reached the two year anniversary of founding this blog. I've had about two attempts at blogging before, one about a year and a half before the start of this blog, the other one I started two months before moving to this blog, but neither of them went very far. In the first case I just didn't have much to say at the time, and I gave up on blogging after just a few posts. With the second attempt I just wasn't keen on the blog name. I'm not sure why Burning Lizard Studios kept going despite my prior failures, but I do know why I created it, the name is just much more appealing.
At first I wrote a few basic, tentative reviews. I didn't quite have anything important to say just yet, though I tried to pretend I did. Slowly I started looking at more things to review. I originally planned to do a general media blog, and while I still take that approach, I eventually fell into the weekly anime reviews that I write now. Or at least that I say I write, when I'm not being horribly lazy.
Once I started developing a format for my reviews, my blog started feeling more official. Then I reached the stage where I had enough posts that I realized I couldn't just give up after putting so much work in, I started taking more pride in what I do.
And besides a few hiccups, I have to admit I'm surprised I've kept this up for so long. Having reached this milestone, and starting to take a more professional approach, I intend to keep going. And if anyone has any comments about my reviews, or anything that would help me improve.
And with that being said, it's time for a little story. Two nights ago I went to look for my cat in the backyard. The fence around said yard is high, too high for a cat to jump, so I never worried about him not being there. Normally I try to keep Berntsen inside after dark, but at times I forget to go looking for him before sunset. At these times I have to go out with a flashlight.
Finally I decided that it was getting late, and I needed to get to sleep before going to school the next day. Since Berntsen usually comes knocking when he was hungry, and he hadn't eaten since that morning, he would show up eventually. And if he didn't...well, I didn't want to think of that at the time. He was too much of a coward to run away, or stay away from the house for too long.
And why, when he stays out, do dog related crimes drop thirty percent?
Then I remembered that I thought to have heard something when I opened the door. Acting on faith I went back outside. Then, I heard it. It was faint, but as I followed the sound, I became certain that there was a hungry cat on the other side of the fence. The side he was not supposed to be able to get to.
I opened the gate, and there he was. Right by the fence gate. On the side of the fence he should not have been at. He rushed right past me, and up to the bowl of food I had prepared the night before. Pausing only for me to follow him up, and give him the okay to start eating. I don't know why he does this, but he doesn't start eating until I come into the room, even when there is food already in his bowl.
But wizard related crimes rise forty percent.
The question I take from all this is, how did he get out there!? If he got out, how could he not get back in!? Is my cat an idiot, a wizard, or a ninja? Or some combination of the three? Lord I hope it's the last two, but for now I'm going to fall back on the theory that there are some parts where the fence is just low enough to jump up and out of. But once outside the fence is too high.
Too high for my lazy cat that is. I've seen other cats make amazing jumps, and this bum can't even jump a six-seven foot fence.
So there you have it, a little reminiscing about my blogging career, and a story about a cat. Your welcome. Please stick around for some actual reviews coming out shortly.

Now I'm not too keen on the dog abuse pics here but your cat really is something. Animals are clever creatures, they can do things that make us envious of them. Like look good in pictures with captions on them for one.
