Anime Reviews: Persona 4 The Animation Episode 11 - Catch Me If You Can

Plot Summary
The creepy kid from back in the first episode is back, and he's playing a video game. Because all creepy losers play video games.

This is how he writes his reviews.
At the scene where the latest dead body was found, it is revealed that the victim was the jerky teacher, Morooka. The main cast sit in the local restaurant, wondering what happened that changed the killer's motifs. They almost consider giving up, but the delivery girl gives them the beef bowl challenge. At first they use it as a distraction, but soon realize they cannot finish the bowls. Yu gives a metaphoric speech about how they can't ever give up. They need to better themselves, and keep persevering.

Of course he's actually talking about the beef bowl, not the murder investigation.

They go to Junes, to talk to Teddy through the TV, because going to a public place to use their magic TV entering powers is the smart thign to do, only to discover that Teddy has left the TV. They ask him if Morooka was in the TV, but Beary says that he was not. He then says that he's getting too hot, and takes off the bear suit, to reveal...

Kill it with fire!
That he is no longer hollow! Of course he is still naked, so they have to get clothes for him.

Does Junes regularly stock froufy prince shirts?
While shopping Nanako runs into the creeper from the beginning of the episode. He acts threatening towards her...

Don't do it, the fanboys will tear you to pieces.
Yu stops him at the last moment, so Nanako is spared. Yu returns to his friends, having picked up Teddy's head. They meet Naoto Shirogane, the "boy" detective who was talking to Kanji several episodes back. Naoto mentions knowing about the connection between the victims appearing on TV.

They meet with Rise at the local shrine, and she officially joins their group. Once back in school they meet their new homeroom teacher.

A pair of levitating chesticles!
This significant improvement from Morooka (aesthetically speaking at least), is Noriko Kashiwagi, a cougar with serious...issues. To the students the change in teachers is only making things worse, to the viewer at least the scenery has improved.

Oh, and there's a woman attached to them.
The creeper comes and tries to get Yukiko to come with him, but she can't remember him, to his growing anger. He tries to make her come, but Kanji chases him off. He returns home, and confesses to being the killer in a chatroom. No one believes him, and he goes to the police station, to presumably turn himself in.

The group finally finishes their midterms, and take some time to relax. They talk about how Morooka was a jerk, but nobody deserved to die like he did. Naota comes to them, and tells them that the criminal has been caught, and that it was a high schooler. They wonder if without the killer to chase they have no reason to keep gathering. Yu says they should still check the midnight channel, just in case. And when they do, the creeper is on the TV.

My Opinion
There comes a moment in almost every anime or manga, where I become slightly ashamed to be watching/reading it. For Blue Exorcist it was the volume Shura and her fantabulous bikini top and short shorts were introduced. For Persona 4 it's this episode, courtesy of Noriko Kashiwagi and her not at all blatant entry into the series.

Photobucket
No ulterior motives here.
The blatant fanservice aside, the rest of the episode was pretty good. Teddy's reveal was hillarious, though I was of course expecting it, having watched most of the game played. The creeper was dealt with interestingly enough, though his behavior was so blatantly unsettled that it's a miracle nobody noticed before. And even if he confesses to the crime, it's obvious he is not the culprit.

Photobucket
Though he is guilty of being a ham.
The highlight of the episode was towards the end, where Yu showed the most emotion he's ever shown, after finding out they might not have a reason to gather together if the killer was found. It was subtle, and downplayed, which fits perfectly with his character. I've said it before, and it's still true, I love what they're doing with him.
